| The STARband™ Cranial Remolding Orthosis The Prostetic and Orthotic Group successfully uses the STARband from Orthomerica, which is a custom cranial remolding orthosis used to treat deformational plagiocephaly, brachycephaly and other head shape deformities in infants 3-18 months of age. The STARband was the first FDA cleared cranial orthosis available to orthotists. Thousands of infants have been successfully treated with the STARband cranial remolding orthosis since its introduction. |

STARbands can be fabricated from a positive modified cast, unmodified
cast, or a scan of the infant’s head using the STARscanner. • The STARband provides total contact over the prominent areas of the skull and leaves a void over the flattened areas to facilitate more normal skull symmetry. • Treatment generally takes 3 - 4 months, but varies depending on the patient’s age and severity of cranial asymmetry. • Clinical consultation is available through Prostetic & Orthotic Group staff of ABC certified orthotists. • STARband literature is available upon request. |
